    Time Event
    12:57a
Heh - I might see Gaelic Storm again, at the Kansas City Irish Fest. They're playing at 4 PM tomorrow and 7 PM on Sunday.

It's kinda funny cause, really, I am not a devoted fan of theirs. I liked hearing them in St. Paul, though! And today I saw signs for the Kansas City Irish Fest, and I thought, "Huh, I wonder if Gaelic Storm's playing here, too!" But I didn't really expect that to be the case, though I just looked at the Irish Fest website, and sure enough, they're playing. I want to go to the Fest for its own sake, not particularly for that band...but I wouldn't mind seeing them again! I just feel guilty since I know people who are big fans. I wish I could bring them along with me! Anyone wanna come to Kansas City this weekend??

I'm not sure if we'll end up going to the Irish Fest or not...unlike the St. Paul one, this one costs money to get into. I'll see if my family's up for it. We're definitely going to the Rennaissance Festival tomorrow, though!

Tonight I went to First Friday with my parents (art gallery stuff) and saw some neat things. Very crowded everywhere! And I met someone who grew up in the same town as Elizabeth, my roomie from last spring term. Small world! Usually when someone asks, "Oh, you go to Carleton? Do you know X?", I either don't know them or have only vaguely heard of them. But this time, I got to say, "Whoa, yeah - we lived together last year!"

I should go to bed now.

Shit shit shit, I just spoiled something for myself in BSG through what I thought would be a fairly innocuous search! Damned one-sentence summaries! I didn't find out details, but still!

This just compounds my determination to see Season 2 ASAP. We've ordered the DVDs, and if they get here in time, I'll take them to school. I just have to make time to watch them!

    Arrrrrgh! BLAH!

So, the Renaissance Festival was amusing enough. There were even a couple of people selling yarn (nothing I was blown away by, though). I also learned how to make bobbin silk, which is scary. Not the making of it. The fact that I now want supplies to do it myself. Like I don't already have enough fiberhobbies. I also watched a woman do a kind of weaving the name of which I forget, and chatted with her about weaving and knitting.

Tonight my parents and I are going out to semifancy dinner with Anne and her parents. The restaurant is Tatsu's, and it's actually very near our house. My parents go there sometimes, but I've never been. So, yay.

I wonder why my mood icons haven't been showing up. Are they broken images for you, too?

    yay!
Exciting: I've got a ticket to see Vienna Teng in concert on September 17th! :D

Annoying: All the hidden fees. Ticketmaster lists this as a $14 ticket. The total cost to me? $26.23. Why?

    +$1 Facility Charge
    +$4.50 Convenience Charge
    +$0.48 Additional Taxes
    +$2.50 Delivery
    +$3.75 Order Processing Fee

And the most annoying part of that? The fact that the $2.50 delivery fee is so I can print out my ticket myself. The free delivery option is the one where they mail your ticket to your billing address (it is not possible to give them a separate mailing address) 48 hours ahead of the concert. The problem with that, of course, is that my billing address is in Kansas, and the concert (and I) will be in Minnesota. So I have to pay extra for the privilege of printing out my own ticket.

Oh well. I'm sure it'll be absolutely wonderful and worth it; it's just kind of ridiculous that it costs nearly twice as much as the listed ticket price to go to the concert!

Every so often, a horrendously formulaic pop song just hits me right THERE. Hard.

I know I mentioned something a while ago about this song doing that.

    IT'S STILL DOING IT.

The lyrics aren't especially poetic, but I have a recent appreciation for simple lyrics (that aren't totally vapid).

so where is the passion when you need it the most?

I think I can relate to that line. Makes me think of times when I'm mad at myself for not having a single driving force. Times I despair over not knowing where I'm going, what I'm doing, or even what I want.

And I just like the way the song sounds, too.
